Chairman of the SZRU Lieutenant-General Illyashov Grygoriy Oleksiyovych
G. Illyashov was born on the 13th of April, 1965, in Lugansk region, Svatove town.
Higher education: From 1982 to 1986 G. Illyashov studied at Simferopol Higher Military and Political Academy. From 1988 to 1990 he studied at the Higher courses of the KGB of the USSR in Novosibirsk. From 1997 to 2001 he studied at Kharkiv Regional Institute of the National Academy of Public Administration under the Office of the President of Ukraine (specialty: public administration; qualification: master for public administration).
From 1986 to 2006 he held operative and executive posts in the state security agencies.
From April 2006 to November 2007 he was the People’s Deputy of Ukraine during the fifth convocation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. He was the Deputy Chairman and then the Chairman of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Judicial policy, the Chairman of the Standing Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. Since November 2007 he was the People’s Deputy of Ukraine during the sixth convocation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. During that period he was the Chairman of the Subcommittee on control over the implementation and execution of the state anticorruption policy of the Committee on Fighting Organized Crime and Corruption.
He was appointed the Head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine by the Presidential Decree on June 18, 2010.
