China Has Become the rf’s Key Partner: over 60 Joint Projects Worth $100 Billion

China has turned into a key trading partner of russia, which is becoming critically dependent on exports of oil, gas, and metals, as well as imports of machine tools, UAV components, and medicines. More than 60 joint projects worth over $100 billion are being implemented by China and russia. They cover many areas – from mineral extraction and transport infrastructure development to mechanical engineering, innovation, and even the military-industrial complex, including the construction of a pulp mill.
This was stated by First Deputy Head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine Oleh Luhovskyi in his interview with Ukrinform.
He also added that China is assisting russia in introducing alternative SWIFT payment mechanisms to circumvent sanctions through the use of cryptocurrencies, clearing platforms, and the mutual connection of banks to the russian and Chinese payment systems SPFS and CIPS.
Besides, thanks to China’s support, russia’s military-industrial complex is able to increase the production of ammunition for artillery, mines, cruise and ballistic missiles, as well as missiles for air defense systems.
“russia integrates electronic components obtained from China into the Kh-101 and 3M-14 “Kalibr” cruise missiles, “Geran” kamikaze drones, and the air borne systems of Su-57 fighter jets and Ka-52 attack helicopters. In 2025 alone, we recorded that russia purchased approximately 40,000 items of electronic components for its military-industrial complex from more than 80 companies registered in China. These are capacitors, microchips, and AC generators, which are necessary for serial production in the fields of rocket construction, radio-electronic systems, and aircraft construction,” pointed out the First Deputy Head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine.
China also remains russia’s strategic partner in the supply of high-tech equipment, first of all of numerically controlled machine tools. In 2025, the total share of imports of such Chinese machine tools was about 35%.
“And, as we have reported earlier, China provides russia with high- and ultra-high-resolution satellite images of civilian objects in Ukraine, which are then targeted by missile and drone strikes,” reminded Oleh Luhovskyi.
