The Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine presents a collection entitled “Ukrainian Scientists and Cultural Figures in the Archival Documents of soviet Secret Services”, prepared by the Sectoral State Archive of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine.

The declassified documents reveal the specifics of soviet secret services’ work against the Ukrainian scientific and cultural intelligentsia abroad in the period 1930-1960. They show how soviet special services monitored the activities of Ukrainian educational institutions, scientific and cultural societies, organizations, committees, student and other groups abroad, how they were registered, how case–files were opened on their leaders, and how information about their political orientation was collected.

In total, the collection includes 94 documents. The compilation was carried out in chronological order. Each document has a title and corresponding search information, which indicates the number of the fonds, case, volume, and page of the sectoral state archive of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine.

This publication can be a valuable source for further research into Ukrainian history and understanding how, on the instructions of the kremlin leadership, moscow-bolshevik secret services tried to destroy Ukrainian identity not only within the country but also abroad, prevent the development of science, the writing of truthful works about Ukrainian reality, and the independent research into the history of Ukraine.
