Chairman of the NATO Military Committee Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone has announced that as part of the PURL program, NATO has transferred $10 billion worth of US military equipment to Ukraine; in total, the Alliance has provided Ukraine with $70 billion in 2026 and has committed to providing an additional $70 billion in 2027.

The bipartisan leadership of the US Senate, represented by the top Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Jean Shaheen and the Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee Roger Wicker has called on US President Donald Trump to increase sanctions pressure on russia. In a letter to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the Senators stated that the most urgent priority for the USA should be fighting the “shadow fleet” of tankers that moscow uses to transport oil and circumvent US sanctions. “Foreign banks must be forced to make a choice,” the Senators also wrote. “They can either do business with the United States or finance russia’s war. They cannot do both.”

The Council of the European Union has decided to extend targeted restrictive measures against individuals and organizations responsible for russia’s destabilizing activities abroad for another year, until October 9, 2027. The decision was adopted in response to the rf’s ongoing and escalating hybrid activities, in particular through information manipulation and interference directed against the European Union, its member states, and partners.

Ambassadors of the European Union member states have agreed on two new packages of sanctions under the EU regime regarding Ukraine’s territorial integrity. EU Ministers  of Foreign Affairs are expected to formally approve this decision at their meeting on October 12.

The United Kingdom’s government has announced new anti-russian sanctions targeting russia’s financial services and “shadow fleet” vessels.

Members of the European Parliament have called on EU leaders to close “russian houses” in EU countries.

Nine EU countries have supported the European Commission’s initiative to cut off funding to sports federations that decided to lift sanctions against russia imposed after the start of the full-scale war against Ukraine.

The International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) has upheld sanctions against russians and belarusians, in particular – a ban on participation in competitions, exclusion from all committees, and a ban on attending conferences without voting rights.

Against the background of russia’s aggressive policies, the United Kingdom and Germany have agreed to cooperate in fighting hybrid threats.

Prime Minister of Lithuania Mindaugas Sinkevičius has announced that he will propose that the European Union ban the transit of russian grain through the Bloc’s territory and impose sanctions against certain agricultural oligarchs from the rf.

Minister of the Interior of Lithuania Martynas Katelynas believes that to strengthen control over russian citizens transiting through Lithuania, their routes should be clearly defined. The Minister of the Interior proposes establishing specific routes that vehicles carrying russians transiting through Lithuania must follow.

Latvia’s Saeimas has banned members of city and regional councils from visiting belarus and the rf.

The Rescue Department of Estonia has provided Ukraine with equipment to help our rescue workers save lives and deal with the aftermath of russian attacks. The equipment includes helmets, protective clothing, motorized pumps, generators, fire hoses, and a mini-tractor.

“russia is our enemy. And no, that doesn’t mean we’re at war. But carefree peace is also a long way off,” said Minister of Defence of the Netherlands Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius.

The ANF plant in the German Land of Lower Saxony must not produce components for russian-made reactors, said State Minister for Environment Christian Meyer.

Shipments of sunflower oil from russia are not reaching India following the shutdown of Black Sea ports. The shipment of 20,000 tons of russian sunflower oil was canceled because the supplier was unable to ship the goods.

russia has recorded its sharpest spike in inflation (an eightfold increase) following the VAT hike due to a sharp rise in utility rates.
